The International Energy Agency (IEA) announced on 13 February at its London headquarters the establishment of a regional cooperation center in Singapore, which is scheduled to begin operations in the second half of the year. This is also the first IEA service outside of the London head office, aimed at strengthening energy issues and cooperating with our country in South-East Asia and elsewhere in accelerating the clean-up of the energy transition.

Fatih Birol, Director General of the IEA, announced this information at the Ministerial Conference commemorating the 50th anniversary of the founding of the IEA. Built in Singapore regional cooperation center will become the International Energy Agency in Southeast Asia and other places in the core area of the theme of activities, pay close attention to the use of renewable energy and other clean energy technologies, to enhance cross-border electric power engineering commerce and trade, to improve the financing of clean energy investment, and to provide relevant policy guidelines, service support and training, etc..

Biloxi feels that Southeast Asia is one of the most economically dynamic and popular regions in the world, and is particularly important for the global energy transition. The establishment of the new office will greatly strengthen IEA's ties with the Southeast Asian region.

The IEA was founded in 1974. Their work basically consists of analyzing energy statistics, detecting trends in the energy market, promoting the application of new energy technologies, and giving countermeasures and recommendations and solutions.
